A Process about the Evangelistic Place of Worship
Church on mission is definitely a popular saying that is all over the place these days. the notion that we have to categorize churches, missional, has forever been a tiny bit different to me. come on, shouldnt all bodies of Christ be missional in their very core? all churches, at its very base, desire to introduce their culture and neighborhood with the gospel as a missionary would in a foreign country? Isnt that what the places of worship is challenged to do in the final charge of Christ in Matthew 28:19? Our own local area needs this brand of church. Church in Austin is slowly going to what our God instructed in Holy Word.
The Son of God gives the command in Acts 1:8 saying, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 explains this concept as, right before Jesus Christ leaves to go to Heaven, He directs the disciples on a exploration that would initiate right in their local community. He begins with their area of Jerusalem, and then enlarges the call to the uttermost parts of the globe.
As believers, we are not moved to social clubs, but to be missional believers who are anxiously going out and connecting with others right where they are with the story of Christ. We have gazed at this throughout history: God sends Abraham on a mission to go out of his place of origin and his people and go to the city that God would show him (Gen. 12:1), God urges Moses on a exploration to save an enslaved people and lead them to relationship with God (Exodus 3:8-10), God moved Jesus on a mission to creation to restore all things to Himself through the death of Jesus (Colossians 1:20). And now God is sending believers on a exploration to engage homes, cities, ethnicities, and even nations with the good news (Matt. 28:19 Mark 6:7 Luke 10:1 John 20:21 Acts 1:8). If we dont respond to this call and continue to display the churches like a private country club ” demanding that people resolve their performance, pay their money, and visit to our sanctuary God will continue His journey without us.
