Superior Ski Conditions across the Alps
There’s been approximately 2 metres snowfall during the last 7 days. It was so deep that ski lifts have been stopped, the train has been stopping at Chamonix and not going onwards to Argentiere. Some roads have been shut past our chalet holiday accommodation and weather announcements released.
This is in direct contrast to a few winters past, when there was the unbelievably mild January weather conditions, grass showing on the pistes, and reports that climate change could mean the end of snowboarding in the European Alps. Highlighting this the report from 2006 admonished that global warming could make skiing holidays far too dear for many holiday makers, with a third of ski resorts going bust with the melting of glaciers. Glaciologists insist that it’s impossible to attribute these annual deviations in the snow to the outcomes of global warming.
We might be experiencing the biggest downturn in 25 yrs, and the Pound Sterling has dropped to new levels against the Euro, but the snow is exceptional, and the latest reservations show that snowboarders are eager to take of advantage of the supreme conditions.
